KagentenNavratri AI photo prompts turn an ordinary picture (or a plain text idea) into a festive Garba-night portrait: traditional chaniya choli, dandiya sticks, warm string lights and all. They went viral the same way last year's AI saree trend did — and with Sharad Navratri 2026 running October 11–19 (Dussehra on October 20), there is still time to make one. Below are copy-paste prompts for Gemini, ChatGPT or any AI image tool, organised by who the photo is for, plus real before-and-after examples we generated with the Kagenten Image Agent.
All example images in this guide were generated on our own Image Agent — the same prompts, the same pipeline a user gets.

Festival photo prompts fail when they are vague ("girl at Navratri") and work when they name four things:
Prompt:
"A realistic photo of a young Indian woman at a lively garba night during Navratri: she wears a red and gold chaniya choli with mirror-work embroidery and a flowing dupatta, oxidised silver jewellery and bangles, holding decorated dandiya sticks, warm string lights overhead, blurred circles of dancers behind her, festive candid photography"
That is the prompt behind the image at the top of this guide. A close-up variant, if you want the outfit detail to dominate:
"A close-up realistic portrait of a young Indian woman smiling during Navratri, wearing a purple and silver mirror-work chaniya choli with a matching dupatta draped over one shoulder, oxidised silver necklace and maang tikka, soft bokeh of garba lights behind her"

Prompt:
"A realistic photo of a young Indian couple playing dandiya at a Navratri garba night: she wears a green and orange chaniya choli, he wears a cream kediyu with a red turban, they face each other mid-step with decorated wooden sticks, warm festive lights and a joyful crowd softly blurred behind them, candid photography"
Searches for couple versions of these prompts are surprisingly under-served — most articles only cover solo portraits, so this is the variant worth trying first if you post content.
"A realistic photo of an Indian family in traditional Navratri attire at a garba night: the mother and daughter in matching blue chaniya cholis, the father in a cream kediyu, the daughter holding two small dandiya sticks, warm festive lights and celebration around them, candid photography"
"A realistic photo of a little girl in a tiny pink chaniya choli twirling during Navratri at home, fairy lights on the wall behind her, joyful motion blur in her skirt, warm evening light"
The prompts above invent a person. The version that went viral works the other way: your face in festive attire. You can do this in the Image Agent without any prompt engineering:
Instruction:
"dress me in a traditional red and gold chaniya choli with mirror-work embroidery and a flowing dupatta, add oxidised silver jewellery, change the background to a lively garba night with warm string lights and dancers in a circle, keep my face exactly the same"

The same flow works for couples: upload a photo of two people and ask for festive attire for both.
Photorealism is not the only option. Because the Image Agent has 15 style templates, the same Garba scene becomes an illustration in one click — pick the Ghibli style and describe the scene:

"A Garba dance night during Navratri in Ahmedabad: dancers in colorful traditional circles holding dandiya sticks, warm lantern light, festive courtyard"
We use the same trick for turning photos into Ghibli-style art — upload your own photo, pick a style, and the festival look becomes a painting.
Sharad Navratri 2026 runs from October 11 to October 19, with Dussehra (Vijayadashami) on October 20. The next Chaitra Navratri falls in April 2027 — the same prompts work for both.
Copy any prompt above and paste it into the image tool (in Gemini, that is the image generation model; in ChatGPT, the image tool). To put your own face in the outfit, attach your photo with the instruction in the "Turn your own photo" section instead of using the text-only prompts.
Yes. In the Image Agent, upload your photo and describe the change in one line — the instruction format is above. Keep the style on None for a photorealistic result.
Yes. New users can try it free, and failed generations are refunded automatically.
Making these for Diwali too? The same prompt formula works with diyas, rangoli and sparklers — see Diwali AI Photo Prompts. Or open the Image Agent and make your Navratri look now.
